Disability Tax Credit

It’s tax season again.

For all the families who have children with medical needs, you may qualify for the disability tax credit.  Generally children who quality have impairments in physical or mental function which is both severe and prolonged.

Qualifying would mean that you could claim medical expenses for tax deductions – for example:

* Travel to and from medical appointments
* Meals while in hospital and while away at appointments
* Medications or equipment which is prescribed by a health care providing
* Increased deductions for daycare and physical fitness programs

If you qualify for this tax credit, you would also quality for the Child Disability Benefit (CDB).  The CBD is a tax-free money supplement/benefit (money!) for families, in addition to the tax deductions.
